Business Model Canvas

First Model Canvas

The following image shows the first Model Canvas that we created for our project.

We quickly decided on our key partners, for we knew which materials we needed to create our DressUp Mirror, since the mirror is an open source project from Raspberry PI.

The main issue for this one, that we later wanted to test were the key activities (whether to add more or not) and the customer segments (since we had two very different segments, we needed to see for which would our product work better).

Changes to the First Canvas

After directing the first few interviews and analysis from different possible competitors we saw that user’s mostly that the product attracted the women more than the parents, so we finally decided our main customer segment to be young women to get better results in the initial release of our product. We can always later expand our product and make a special edition for kids, but that would be later the road, and if it were necessary.

We also saw that user’s asked whether you could see the entirety of the content of the wardrobe in a catalog kind of way. We thought it would be a great addition to the product, and as so it was added as a key activity for our product.

User's asked if the product would log on onto social media and see what other people were wearing. This would add an additional key activity that would allow interconnectivity between mirrors and allow a small social media circle to function around our product. It is a very interesting concept, but we decided not to add it on the initial release of our product, since it increases our costs and time for the initial product release.

It was also questioned whether it would be possible to add ads from different clothing stores to make new combination of clothes with other clothes that the user would have to buy in different stores, acting as a channel between the user's and the stores too. This was also scrapped from the initial release, if the product is a success, this option would be easier to achieve than if it was implemented from the beginning.

Second Model Canvas

After this couple of changes, we managed to have a better and more realistic Model Canvas for our DressUp Mirror, which is as follows.
